Paint Inspection and Decontamination

Before any film goes on, every panel is inspected under lighting for existing chips, swirls, or contaminants. The paint is then clay-barred and decontaminated so the film bonds to a perfectly clean surface — not over dirt, wax, or residue.

Paint Correction If Required

If scratches or swirl marks are found during inspection, they are corrected before installation. PPF locks in whatever condition the paint is in, so we make sure the surface underneath is right before a single piece of film is cut.

Film Cutting and Panel Prep

Each piece of film is precision-cut using a plotted template matched to your exact vehicle make and model. Panels are wiped down with a slip solution to allow perfect positioning before the film is locked in place.

Installation and Edge Wrapping

Film is laid onto each panel, positioned, then squeegeed flat to remove any moisture or air from underneath. Edges are heat-formed and tucked around panel edges where possible so there is no visible film line and no lifting point for water or debris.

Final Inspection and Cure Time Briefing

Once installed, every panel is inspected under lighting for any lifting edges, bubbles, or trapped debris. You are then walked through the cure period — what to avoid and for how long — so the film bonds correctly and you get the full life out of it.

Paint Protection Film FAQ

PPF pricing depends on the coverage level you choose — Partial Front, Full Front, or Full Body — as well as your vehicle type and size. Soaked Detailing does not publish fixed prices online because every vehicle is different. Get a free quote and Jack will give you an exact number for your specific car.
A Partial Front install typically takes half a day. A Full Front takes a full day. A Full Body wrap usually runs across two days to ensure every panel is done properly with time for the film to be positioned and sealed without rushing. You will get a time estimate when you book.
A quality PPF installation should last 7 to 10 years with normal care. Film exposed to harsh conditions — constant gravel, heavy sun, or infrequent washing — may show wear sooner. How well you maintain it makes a real difference to how long it looks good.
PPF is low maintenance compared to unprotected paint. You can wash it like normal paint — avoid harsh detergents, do not use an automated car wash with stiff brushes, and do not pressure wash directly along the film edges. A maintenance wash every few weeks and an annual coating top-up will keep it looking right.
Warranty details are confirmed at the time of your quote based on the film product used. Jack will walk you through exactly what is covered, for how long, and what would void the warranty before you commit to anything.
Ceramic coating adds slickness, water repellency, and UV protection to your paint — but it does not stop physical damage like stone chips or scuffs. PPF is a physical barrier that absorbs impact. The two products do different jobs. Many Soaked clients run both: PPF on the high-impact panels, ceramic coating over the top for the full package.
Quality film installed correctly is effectively invisible. There is no yellowing, no orange peel texture, and no visible edge lines when the film is properly tucked. The only visual difference is your paint looking cleaner for longer.
